Corrections policy

We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it in public, at the same address, and we say what changed.

01Our commitment

Errors of fact are corrected as soon as they are confirmed, not quietly overwritten. The corrected story keeps its original URL so that links, citations and shares continue to work.

02How we label changes

Correction — a factual error has been fixed; a note explains what was wrong.
Clarification — the facts were right but the wording could mislead; we sharpen it and say so.
Update — new information has been added to a developing story, with a timestamp.
Removal — used only for legal or safety reasons, with a note left in place of the article.

03Timing

Significant factual errors are addressed within 24 hours of verification. Minor typographical and formatting fixes are made silently and do not carry a note.

04Request a correction

Send the story URL, the passage in question and any supporting evidence to the newsroom. Include your contact details so an editor can follow up. Every request is read by a human editor.
